Welcome

Welcome to MLA South West's website

a resource for anyone with an involvement or interest in the South West of England's museums, libraries and archives.

Changes at MLA South West

The Board of MLA South West, the region’s strategic development agency for museums, libraries and archives, has agreed a timetable for ceasing operations by March 31, 2009.

Trustees have endorsed a plan to begin an internal consultation process with the organisation’s 15 staff.

The charity’s chairman, Sir Geoffrey Holland said: “I and my fellow Trustees recognise that this is a challenging time for the team and our decisions are aimed at ensuring the best possible outcome from a difficult situation.”

The results of the consultation will be made public in mid September, 2008.

MLA Council has issued a press release which gives more details on the future of the organisation. It can be read HERE

As we work through a year of change, MLA South West is continuing with ‘business as usual’. We will be supporting the sector through programme activity and engaging with local government throughout the 2008-09 financial year. Museums, Libraries and Archives: Delivering Outcomes in the South West

MLA South West's latest publication shows how museums, libraries and archives contribute to Local Area Agreement targets, through the new National Indicator Set or locally set priorities.
